Gillian Wearing: Rock ’n’ Roll 70, ICA/Boston, December 9, 2016–December 31, 2017
For decades, GillianWearing has mined the understanding and presentation of the self through her photographic and video works. Rock ’n’ Roll 70 (2015), a large-scale, site-specific commission, featured portraits of the artist at age 70 composed by different individuals utilizing age-progressing technology. This work is technically ongoing, as Wearing intends to fill the empty space in the framed triptych with a portrait of herself when she actually turns 70. Rock’ n’ Roll 70 was the artist’s first solo presentation in Boston. (Organized with Eva Respini)
